About First Samuel

The little church on Belleview Place.

We’re a Missionary Baptist congregation on the west side of Indianapolis — not the biggest church in the city, and not trying to be. We’d rather know your name.

To manifest, magnify and glorify God by serving mankind.

The mission of First Samuel

Our story

First Samuel Missionary Baptist Church worships at 1402 N Belleview Pl, on the west side of Indianapolis in Marion County. We gather every Sunday: prayer at 8:30, Bible Boot Camp at 10:00, and morning worship at 11:15.

Worship here is traditional: choir and musicians, congregational readings, communion, and an altar call at the end. The building is brick and the welcome is warm. And the work doesn’t stop at the sanctuary door — the same hands that pass the plate on Sunday pass out groceries and school supplies to the neighborhood all year long.

Our vision

The vision of First Samuel Church (W)holistic Ministries is to use a (W)holistic approach to enhance and develop the total man regardless of race, creed, culture, social status, financial status, or religious beliefs and to see individuals and families growing and flourishing in all areas of their lives.

What we hold to

A few things we believe.

The Scriptures
The Bible is God’s word, and it’s for everybody — not just the pulpit. We read it, wrestle with it, and let it read us.
Grace
Nobody earns their way into God’s love. Salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ, and it’s a gift — full stop.
Baptism & the Table
We baptize believers by immersion, as the Missionary Baptist church has for generations, and we share communion as a family — together, remembering.
The Church
Church isn’t the building on Belleview Place. It’s the people who carry casseroles, visit hospital rooms, and show up when it matters.
